Trader’s Terminology

Long position– buying shares of a company with the belief that it will go up in future.

Short position– selling shares that you do not own with the belief that the share price to go down and then you buy them back at a cheaper price in future (Stock Lending)

Flat position– if you do not own anything in that company.
