Stock lending a.k.a. Short sell

Ever thought of making money by being a gloom monger? You can do so if you are aware about the concept of stock lending. It is when people short stocks hoping they will go down in value and they will then buy back those shares to offset their initial position.

If someone is a non-believer in a particular company and wants to short the stocks, they can borrow some shares and immediately sell them in the markets. When the price actually goes down, the person can purchase the borrowed quantity of shares at a lower price and give them back to the lender. On the flip side, one can lend to this borrower, if you have faith in the company, at a small commission (Evaluate the downside risk also before borrow or lend)
